Did some horse trading a couple of weeks ago and
drug an '83 GPz1100 to the shop. A few things to
address just yet... Tires, brakes and chain. Along
with most of the usuals with a vintage bike.

Had to drop an extra set of rear turn signals I had
around from the XJ on this beast... 8O Not just a
ton of time on 'er just yet. Been a purdy cool ol'
bike to scoot around on tho.

    Yes sir, She's fuel injected.
Thanks, in real nice shape and runs great. Should
have new rubber on the ground, new chain and
finish up a tune by tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise,
    she's a skreemer...

Very nice ride. I'm pretty sure most of the Gurus here will start screaming "brake lines" at you before the post hits tomorrow. Looks like the PO knew what was going on. Appears to be pretty well taken care of.
Be careful. Red motorcycles attract the 5-O.

Nice bike always liked those old gpz's. If the fi ever quits they can be easily converted to carbs if need to be. I am sure you will enjoy the handling and all the extra power. They sound great with a kerker if you can find one. The red ones look much better then the black ones. After owning several elrs in that era always have a good battery they are hard on stators and a so so battery tends to put a lot of stress on them. Best of luck with your new toy

'83 GPZ 1100.....both highly collectible and sought after, and worth a lot of bucks to the seekers.
You have a real classic on your hands there. Restore it to as close to original as you can.

    Yes sir.
I'll start on a "newer" mosfet reg/rect project to beef up the
charging system later today. Few things left to do that I just
more or less want to do to get 'er freshened up. Too funny...
And honestly, not just a huge fan of red. Weird how things
    work out.
    Thank ya' sir..! 8)

The valve shims are under the buckets like in an X-motor. :(

On the upside, the camshafts appear to have actual bearing shells and don't run directly in the head like ours do.

Nice bike. Definitely replace the brake lines if original.

Had an opportunity to do a trade on an 1993 Kawasaki ZX11 this
weekend. Runs real good and is in great shape. Will have to get
a rear tire put on fairly quick and a left front signal lense. Pics
without lower cowl on. (Scopin' everything out underneath...)

Those things had a tendency to rip countershafts out!
Hence, why they only made them for less than a decade!

Hmm. So far, both things, tend to wrip the asphalt up off the road..! I would imagine as with most manufacturers, their desire to evolve
both from an engineering and stylistic standpoint is far and away more
at play. Like anything else I own, I enjoy what they offer me personally.
Hence... Make, model and/or year has never had any influence on what
I personally choose to ride on any given day.

Price for hard to find parts have always influenced my builds. Good thing the Ex500s have lots of parts that are compatible

    Hey Mountain..!
Yes sir, They're both at the shop, (work), right now. I'm gonna
give these Conti-motions a try. Finally got the rear in today so
I'll start pullin' rims off and get the bike shop to mount 'em up
for me tomorrow. I've got an outrageous "gunk" on the rear
rim I have to figure out what will brake it down..? Carb cleaner
didn't faze it. 8O Tried an abrasive pad and WD and it sorta
got after it a bit. Sheez, I dunno what, who 'n why, ya' know...
Have some acetone and giving thought to tryin' it. Almost makes
me think maybe somebody put some tire slime in it and it just
    went nuts..? Weird deal.
    Thanks for the shout!
    Peace 8)

New Conti's on the ZX11 and cleaned up the rear rim. Ended up
just using a scotchbrite and WD. Loaded 'er up and back to my
shop last weekend. I'll round up some alumi polish and doll this
rear rim up. Picked up a set of Suzy 6 pot front callipers the other
day and hope to get all that sorted out pretty quick...
