    Ok, I started to paint.
    Fenders, front and back.
    Side pannels and tank.
Got 2 coats on it and it looks great!!!
Should I go for more coats or can I start with the clear coats?
If yes, how long should I wait for the paint to dry before I start with the clear?

    I have lots of pics.

Here is a pic of the front fender with 3 coats of paint, waiting for the clear coat.
Not a bump or blemish. All the other parts are done with the paint too.

My only advice is to take you time. Do not be in a hurry!

    Looks great so far!

I follow (loosely) the advise on the paint. Recoat after 15-20 min or after 7 days (cured). If you're using rattle can paint, I suggest Dupli-color. I've had horrible luck with Krylon. Duplicolor also makes a high temp paint that resists gas, and works pretty darn good. It's on my engine and holding up well.

The paint and clear are both high temp (500 degrees) .
I won't add the clear for a week or two?
    Thanks for the help:)

Color: I'm sure some are wondering about it. In the high temp, that was my only choise. I think I'll try flames on the tank. Maybe light gray blending into dark gray.
    What do you think?

And yes, I've seen clearcoat over stickers, just watch for runs near the edges. Use very light coats.

    Thanks,

I'm still not sure if I'll do it but I would really like to try the flame deal..
I'll pretty happy with my first paint job. Painting was not as intensive as all the sanding I had to do. Last night I was dreaming of sanding ..:)

If you are waiting a week to clear coat. Dont forget to wipe down those parts. Or even do light sanding with some 1500 to 2000 grit paper. That will help the clear to adhear better. I cleared mine right after the paint dried. Painted on Saturday and reassembled on Sunday. Be careful though. the paint will cure for a while ater you are done. I like the color. Just a little lighter than mine. Is there some pearl in it as well? The paerl make it look really good in the sun.

You don't have to flame it ...

    3M makes Pin Stripes.
You stick-on the stripes and peel-off the plastic cover.
Shoot-on the clear over the stripes.
You can also get a "Page" of pin stripe ART.

samsr - Good point, I'll def give it a bit of sanding first.

RickCoMatic - do you have a link for the decals?

Should start a new thread with the entire process of rebuilding the bike?

I could contribut to that post of rebuilding a bike. Probably a lot of people here could. I cleared my fenders and such about 5 minutes after the paint dried. I ran the paint over with a tack cloth and then cleared everything. Good luck.
