This past week there was a post from a disgruntled member. I, on the other hand, want to express my gratitude for the help I've gotten from this site. I found xjbikes about two years ago and have since joined. In that time I have successfully cleaned and rebuilt the carbs, dry and wet set floats, bench synced, replaced valve cover gasket and pressure washers, checked and adjusted valves, rebuilt master cylinder and calipers, installed SS lines, installed new pads and shoes, rebuilt forks with seals and dust covers, fixed broken speedometer and a bunch of little stuff that I just can't remember. It wouldn't have been possible without folks like Fits, Rick and Chacal. Again, I say Thank You. Hopefully, I can return the favor.

Definitely.... Everyone on here is great! The Honda Civic forum I'm on is a joke. most of the questions asked on here would get you a new @sshole on that forum....

Don't need no stinkin' speedometer. Every trooper I've met was more than happy to tell me how fast I was going. They would even write it on a sheet of paper... in triplicate...with both our signatures.

lol bmarzka, that made me laugh a little too much. Nearly chocked on my beer. Which they didn't charge you so much to let you know how fast you're going though.

The best part of being a contributor here is the new guys that actually pay attention and are genuinely helped by us here. I was one of those once, and what I learned from XJBikes not only helped me vanquish the last few gremlins from my first XJ, it was instrumental in my successful recommissioning of my current bike.

My all-time favorite XJBikes tip (besides XJ4Ever and Kroil) is the RickCoMatic hammer-handle pry bar. I've had mine now for over 5 years and THEY sure do come in handy (I made two, a small one from a broken ball-pein and a "regulation" size one.)

What I try to do, personally, is articles that reflect everything I'm going through myself and plug the holes in the often useless manuals in the process. NOBODY explains the whole tach drive thing, not MamaYama, Haynes or Clymer and every XJ I've owned (3 so far) has/had "the drippies."

Every time our collective efforts put another XJ back on the road, the Fitz gets a warm fuzzy.

    Thanks guys. Ride safe.

bmarzka: The problem with those State Troopers is that their happiness comes from being able to politely or not so politely extract upwards of $175 for generously telling me what speed I was doing. That kind of heartfelt kindness can be better served fixing up my XJ, so I will just get my speedometer fixed and have that State Trooper pay it forward to someone else. BTW Love this XJ site!!!!!

FITZ - there will be another XJ back on the road in about 6 Months.
