I was curious how many Kansas City riders where on here. I'm on my xj about everyday. I carry a rain suit in the saddle bags. Also swap meets start April 28th 2013 twin drive in. Also 50 hwy cycle is the only that I know of motorcycle junk yard I suggest anyone needing parts for bikes can check there.

    Spiderman,

I am in Kansas City. I actually live in Shawnee. I ride all the time and work on the bikes as needed. I still havent got the xj s rolling. I have 2 1982 xj 650s that need attention. I should be working on them next month just have little time at the moment and cant get around to working on them. I ll reach out when i get one rolling so we can ride.

Sounds good. Let me know if you want to ever get rid of one of them. I have a buddy that might be interested. Also if you ever need parts you can call action cycles its off of Manchester and 435.

    Howdy y'all!

I just purchased a 1985 XJ700N, not too long after purchase (4 days) the bike won't stay running without the choke on...when choke is switched off it dies.

To this point I have replaced fuel filter, checked for vacuum leak. Beyond that I have no idea what I should do...HELP!

I might add, It's been 17 years since I last owned a motorcycle, so you may need to be simple with directions.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

You should have a idle screw in between your carbs. I would say you need to adjust that in, if you have made sure your carbs are cleaned and float levels are correct.

The local KC Vintage Japanese Motorcycle club is doing a free meet/swapmeet this weekend at Cafe Racer in West Bottoms. I would love to see some more XJs out there.

So it's been several years since anyone posted here. I inherited a 81 Seca 750 and I've ridden it periodically thru the years, It was fixed up rather nice about 5 years ago until an internally rusted tank poured gas all down the recent candy apple red paint job. Now it's just a collection of mis-matched pieces but still runs well. I just purchased another one two days ago that's cosmetically in better shape but it doesn't run (yet) due to the common excuse that the carbs need cleaning. Even if it doesn't run, it was worth the $680 just for nice matching tank and pieces... BTW - From Olathe just off 151st... Look forward to getting advice, buying parts and meeting up with some of you at some point.

It was the weekend if Father's Day. If you want to ride with some more vintage guys, head to Westbottoms on Sunday morning. There's usually quite a few guys out.

I ride an XJ750K and live just north of Kansas City in Parkville. Mine runs and rides but needs a little love before going too far from home.

I might make my way out there again this year. Last year's show was pretty darned good. I met a nice fellow who sold me good set of carbs for cheap.

Time for the 18 month check in. I'm trying to get rid of a whole (not running since I pirated the master cylinder) 1981 Seca 750. It's got a good title in my name and was running but also has a full complement of parts. Check the KC craigslist under Motorcycle parts / Seca. Anyway, I'd like to get rid of it in one fell swoop but I'll probably start parting it out in August. Take care.
