Manual says to push the spacer aside and then hit the inner race of the existing bearing to remove it? How do you get to the spacer? Are you supposed to destroy it to get it out?

You can punch the bearings out through the opposide side. The spacer should not be damaged on removal. Use brass punches or be very careful.

The easier way, in my experiance, is a blind bearing puller. If you were closer to me you'd be welcome to use mine.

So come through one bearing to the other at an angle to grab the inner outside race of the opposing bearing?

Correct (the spacer, a long tube between the two bearings, is only "held" in place by the bearings and can be pushed to the side), If you are going to replace them you don't really have to worry about damaging the bearing itself, just bash it out, don't damage the spacer or the rim itself though.

Sounds pretty easy. This is how I assumed one would remove the bearings.. I been over thinking the situation. Thanks! I wonder if a heat gun heating the bearing housing would help matters? The axle is a little cruddy. I wiped off the old grease. Should I try to polish it a little? Or re grease?

They're not all that tightly press-fit. They'll tap right out.

Clean and polish the axle, by all means. Then re-grease.

Just don't forget to put the spacer back in when you install the new bearings.
