    Thought I had found a deal: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/m ... 37830.html

But I called the guy, and he says you can't make out all the VIN numbers. Of course, he said that he had already called the police to verify that it's not stolen... but wait, how can you do that if you can read all the numbers? Of course it's worth that in parts, but I ain't taking possession of any property that might be stolen... Dang it.

No title, but I was willing to try the Vermont trick. :D

You can do a notorized ()or however you spell it bill of sale... than if it ends up stolen its on him not you... i do that with every purchase from around here. alot of people are shady.. which is good i did that i bought a quad from there that was stolen but i showed the cops the bill of sale with the guys name and address and it was all on him. Either way if you buy it also and part it out they cant make u give it back since you legally purchased it.

You don't NEED the whole VIN to KNOW the whole VIN.

You can use the "shorty VIN" stamped into the top of the transmission case to "reverse engineer" the full VIN using the formula found here: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=14577.html

There is two VIN#'s. There should be the white sticker on neck and right beside that it is stamped in the metal.

Thanks. Anyways, it appears someone snatched it up - perhaps from this group!
