I have seen a lot of kits to convert our 7 in sealed beam to Halogen. The kits i see is for a 2 light system. Would anyone be interested in splitting a kit with me and going half on shipping? They say that low beam H4 is brighter than our sealed beams on high. WOW! This would make night driving a whole lot safer.

I don't know if you guys have one locally, but advance auto has a 7 inch round H4 headlight housing in the apc section. APC went under so all of their junk is on clearance. I only paid 5.95 for mine, along with a 20 dollar silverstar bulb. It really is plug and play.

I have never seen this at my local Advance, however I never look at the APC junk as that typically is what it is. Hmmm...perhaps I will have to go look and see.

The "2-light system" you're referring to -- I just want to clarify here.
7" round headlights using H4's - if it's a 2 light system, its just 2 of the exact same headlights.

Now if you meant 2-light system as in 2 lights PER SIDE (as in automotive) -- then those aren't 7" lights - those will be 5 1/4" bulbs, and they'll use separate single filament bulbs - like the 9005/9006 combination.

AFAIK, all 7" round headlights are dual-beam bulb units, and should be good for our bikes.

Oh how I urn for APC out here in CA. They pulled out back in 97, a real bummer. I durn near lived there. Great deals were to be had there. Wonder why they bellied up?
I did the H4 conversion years ago by simply scoring an automotive headlamp from the junk yard and installing a new bulb. Nothing to it.

You can also use a standard off the shelf HD H4 conversion kit. Mine also came with the high temperature pigtail. It required no modification to the mounting ring. It cost me $25 and has an excellent beam. I did run new wires and relays between the handlebar switch and the battery (use the handlebar switch to trigger the relays to supply battery voltage directly to the headlight).

The owner of the custom shop was an old Yamaha bike rider and said an H4 conversion will fry the wires in the handlebar switch unless you go with the wiring upgrade. I did the math and it is right on the edge of the current carrying capacity for the original wiring. TMMV.
