Noticed this project on ebay. Located in NSW, Australia. Looks like a 1985 model, which was optional without the fairing and had a round headlight. Seems to have a spare cylinder head and cam cover.

    Not for me as I don't have space for a 2nd XJ900.

I reckon I can find the room for a 3rd one but it's a bit too far a way for me also. There seems to be a few about for sale at the moment, Unfortunately I missed a good one in Wagga last week.

Luckily ,its only about an one and a half hours from me . Most of the ones that come up seem to be in Victoria , WA or QLD , miles away from Sydney. He,s got it advertised elsewhere, convenient reason to pull it if it doesn,t bring what he expects. Well I,ve started the bidding , so see what happens , cheers , Murray

It's funny because i reckon most of the good buys I see seem to be in Northern NSW or Queensland. The ones down this way seem to go for a lot more money.
I would like to get another XJ900 if the price was right but lately since purchasing a PW80 for my young bloke I have been more focused on repairing cheap off road bikes to ride around with the kids. As a result I have added a postie and 2 yamaha AG200's and XT200's to the collection.

Now I just need to get hold of a couple of good cheap CDI units to suit the AG/XT's so I can get them going

Good luck, whoever gets it will need it to be a 2nd bike, so your assembled XJ900 can be used as a guide to putting it back together. It looks like quite a task to reassemble it. Particularly which bolts go where.

There is a seat on ebay. They come up quite often.

These unfaired versions have a one piece steel tubular handlebar? Different from the alloy 2 piece ones on the faired model, which I have.

I'll be interested to see this on the forums as it gets restored.

I would only bid for it as a parts bike, that could cost more than it's worth for the 'missing' parts.

Not a problem , I,ve got two 900,s pulled apart on my garage shelves, an 83 and an 84, so should have enough to make one bike . It my end up going higher than I,m prepared to pay for the amount of work it would require, and I do have to ask myself ,with one half finished xj900, one hallf finished Honda c95 and an xj650 turbo waiting to be started ,do I really need it? , cheers, Murray

It went for $300 , IMHO ,far more than it was worth . I bid up to $275 , and I thought that was overly generous. Cheers, Murray
