So I swapped out my stock signals with LED's. I put in a new 2 pin electoronic relay with the brown and brown/white wired connected and left the yellow/green wire off(self cancleing wire), now for some reason when I signal left all the lights come on and stay on and when I signal right just the right light comes on and stays on. Could it be a the wrong or faulty relay or is my wiring incorrect. I thought this was gonna be a simple swap mod, but now I am scratching my head a little. Any help is helpful!
    Thanks

Just a quick update. I swapped the the brown and brown/white wires around on the relay and now they all flash at the same time. I feel like at least its a step in the right direction!

But now how do I get it so just one side flashes at a time!

I thought the other wire was for the self canceling unit?

    Try this:

GET A WIRING and CIRCUIT diagram (not the same thing) for your bike before you just start guessing and cook something. If you don't have these two very critical references then PM me with your email address and I will supply.

"I thought" smells like a melted wire waiting to happen to me. Yamaha didn't follow the rest of the worlds' color coding conventions.

Those self-cancelling units are over $100 new if you can find them. Don't throw it away.

And be sure distracted CAR drivers can see your LED signals in bright sunlight. Turn signals aren't just for looks but if nobody can SEE them...

Thanks for the offer fitz, but I do have wiring schematics. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong, since I am still getting this hazard flash I decided to reconnect the old flasher just to see if I could get a steady light on either side, but I get all four solid lights. It worked fine when I had the stock lights on. Is it possible that My new 2 pin relay needs a ground? Or is it something in my switch? Anyone else have this hazard flash when installing LEDs?

The problem might not be the flasher. If you switch to all LED signals, and aren't using load resistors, you can end up with current "bleeding" across the turn signal indictor lights in the dash, which makes all four signals flash at once. What you need....is diodes. This might not be the case on your 550, but I've had that problem on other vehicles, and placing diodes on the dash indicators solved the problem.

I'm with Fitz on the importance of visibility. There are very few LED lamps on the market that are visible at any reasonable distance in daylight. Most of the "direct replacement" lamps are utter crap. Of the one's that I've used, these are among the closest to being as good as, or better than, incandescent http://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/tail-brake-turn/

Try another flasher and try disconnecting your dashboard if you still have it.

    Still have the stock connector?
Compare position of the letters on the stock flasher and the new flasher in relations to the connector

Broberg. I just did that and no difference.

K-moe I have a feeling that this could be the case. Do you know off hand what type of diodes I should use?

    Alright +1 to K-moe!

so for future reference in case someone else runs into the 4 light flash of death here is what I did.
I went to radio shack got 2 1a diodes then wired them up to the brown and green wire inside the headlight bucket going to the indicator light on the dash board. Issue fixed. They flash one side at a time now bright and better than ever. Again thanks a lot to K-moe for the tip and saving me from doing some serious electrical demon hunting!!
