I have had very little success with simplified wiring diagrams from the web. I have the same symtoms as you remo.

GOT MY NEW IGNITOR ON AND HEARD ALL FOUR FIRE FOR THE FIRST TIME! Unfortunately i have other kinks to work out. Lighting and fuel supply and I am yet to sync the carbs. Still patching up where I trimmed and moved the petcock on a Ninja tank that looks killer combined with the lowered frontend.Options, Options....Almost done with electrical though, which was why the bike had been abandoned and got passed down to me.

Aww I had to abandon ship too damn cold and depressing, what started out mild turned into a long damn winter in the mountains of the high desert. rest assure my baby is safe and sound right on the living room floor up on her stand. the weather has finally turned and i am headed up there this weekend to bring her down to the city at my new girls request. what i did manage to get done was acquire a"1949 NSU fox" completely thru scrap metal bartering  posting pic of chassis (semi rolling) after rust remediation IT IS SWEET ! hAVE tO SEE,ONE FRIGGIN DENT ON THE HEADLIGHT, otherwise unscathed in my eyes. got the motor too but its missing the piston. heard of an R1 motor for a hundred bucks out of a tow yard.....I wonder how that would work out

    R1 in the fox???

How that would work out with the "floating" rear end I *guess* would be something like-:

    Fire up engine

    Engage gear

    Release clutch

Enter Hell, backwards, on fire, at 95MPH... :?

    8) Lol, but cool bike, I'm sure if you find the rest of the engine's complete that Wiseco will have a suitable piston/ring, they usually do

One thing that's NOT at all clear on that diagram, is the grey wire from the second pick up. That could cause no end of problems if you were tired & didn't notice it!

Does anyone know if this wiring diagram would work for an '82 xj750 seca? Hoping to mod the big square lights and replacing them with one round one, but one trip behind my current bulb showed me that I'll have a lot of wires to hide if I keep the current system, bike runs so I almost feel bad tearing it out to simplify it. I also have an instrument cluster from a '79 XS750 that I wouldn't mind swapping in for the bulky '82 cluster, didn't know if anyone was aware of the level of compatibility across these years.

Okay wizards, more "out there" Electrical brain pickin' quiz questions comin' right up....
    1. Is there a way to alter the electrical charging system to "run off the alternator"? I mean, must I have a tip-top condition battery in order to charge the system enough to run with lights? I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING, I take "minimum" too literal. HAHA ! Well sorry my build budget of $200 doesnt allow for 50% into the battery. Maybe there is a bible for battery resto'.
    2. If one was unsure if his charging difficulties were stemming from a bad battery or a malfunctioning rectifier/regulator... could he solder in-line LED's or diodes in order to eliminate a variable? If so which type/size in which wire/s?
3.Does running without a headlight cause the system to overcharge/damage the battery or weaken the alternator?

Thanx guys for your input, I'll try not to doubt anyones knowledge in the matter. The new Ignitor did the trick, my wiring panned out, despite inconsistencies with wire colors... UNLESS, my problem lies in the fact that the diagram shows orange coming off the ACG where I have faded green I think thats the way it goes anyway. Mines a 550...Something I missed?
