82 750 Maxim Brake question

    Working on xj 750 Maxim brake calipers. This rubber part was on the sliders when I took it apart. It is not listed on the parts diagrams. It makes for an excessively tight fit when inserting into the caliper body.

    Does it belong?

    They belong on there.....they are dust boots.....leave them on....

    Yes that upper one is what is left of that dust boot.....replace it if you can find them

    The "upper" one in the pic is a FAILED dust boot. The "rings" on your sliding pin should still be attached to the part of the boot that's still in the housing, like the lower one in the pic.

    XJ4Ever should have them; but they haven't made it into his catalog. Email or PM chacal.

    In the parts fiche for your bike, they're ref #'s 12/20 (5R2-25937-00-00, "Boot 2") and you can also get them from Yamaha... for over $13.00 EACH.

    I'd check with Len.
