It has been rather sultry along Lake Erie this week. Upper 80's. High humidity. I'm wondering if there is anything special I should do with my airhead. I run 20w50 and use 93 octane because I've read that it burns slower and cooler.
Also, is there a jacket I can wear in warm weather that breathes and still offers protection? My leather jacket makes me sweat like an Appaloosa stud during breeding season.

    Your bike should be fine.

There are all SORTS of vented, armored jackets out there. I wore leathers for over 40 years, and have sworn off them in favor of armored textiles. MUCH more comfortable in the heat of summer.

+1 on a vented jacket, just don't get one in black.

Add a hydration pack for trips of more than an hour. You can stay hydrated between stops, and if you pinch the bite valve with your left hand (while riding) you'll get a nice, cooling, spray through your vented jacket.

    More info on staying cool.

I have a Joe Rocket mesh jacket that you can actually see through. It is great for summer time riding, but if it rains you are soaked. The amount of air that moves thorugh that thing is incredible and makes riding in the summer a lot more tolerable. If you have access to motorcycle stoes go in and see if you gind something that you like.
