Unfortunately last night my 650 SECA was involved in an accident. Fortunately I was not sitting on it and no one was seriously injured. I have two options:

Buy a parts bike, (3 available in the Bay Area) and use it to rebuild mine.

    or

Purchase the same model with (asking $1700)

i would probably go with the parts bike, if its not too badly damage (your bike that is) for $1700 you could be starting all over with some of the things youve already done to you bike that may not have been damaged in the accident

If the frame and engine is ok, then go with the parts bike and rebuild. However if it has been pancaked...make it the parts bike and venture out for a replacement...just my opinion

    I'd buy the $1700 runner.
Swap anything and everything you can that will make you the BEST Runner.

Once you are back in action ...
Part-out the stuff you dont need.
Keep ... hard to find and unobtainiums.

Where is there a 650 seca for sale here? Just curious since I browse occasionally...either way, let me know when you get on the road. After I get my rear wheel bearings replaced I'm ready to ride. Seca club. Also I've done a lot with mine since getting it if you have any questions.

Test the compression before you buy it, 47,000 is a lot of miles...

It would depend on the degree of damage. If the frame or forks got bent, or fins broken, cases cracked; then I'd be looking for a runner to play mixy-match with.

If the frame and suspension are still straight and the motor intact, cast-part wise and the damage only cosmetic or limited to easily replaceable parts, then I'd repair it.

A bent frame is no fun. That would be my deciding factor.

And do a compression test on ANY 30-year old bike/motor before you buy it. We've had a member discover 2 holed pistons in a bike with only 5500 miles.

Thank you every one. I will be making a decision after I can determine If there has been any frame damage. I think I got lucky on this one, most of the energy from the impact was deflected around the bike.
