Just want to chime in, and say hello to the community.

Just bought this bike a couple of weeks ago. It was one of the 40 bikes deployed in '87. VIN and engine code starting with 37G. Mine has 86k kms in the odo, but I'm pretty sure it's not the first engine and not the first frame. :)
Anyhow, it's road legal for 1 person. Here's some photo:

It runs great, but has an annoying rattle from the right front caliper which need to be taken care of. New tires will go on soon, and has plans for spokes conversion based on this write up during the winter.

When you say its road legal for one person is it because it just has a solo seat or is there some other hungarian law that limits it to one person? Nice looking bike.

    Welcome aboard!
Great looking bike you have there.

Just to let you know. The forks from the 700 virago will be approx 2" (50mm) longer than your stock forks. This will raise the front of your bike a little bit. If you have any questions about the swap. Feel free to ask.

Re: Hello from Hungary, Central Europe - XJ650 Police Specia

@gijim: it's road legal for 1 person because it has solo seat, and lot's of heavy ancillaries (bags, bags holders, fairing, additional police speedo, crash bar, etc) all of these weights a lot, so it can;t be legalized for 2 seat bike only with a seat change. It has to be reworked homologization as well. But I'm happy about the solo seat, it looks great imho.

@maverickbr77: sorry, don't want to remove the bags, the their frame holds the rear flashers as well, and I have no intention to relocate these.

@MiGhost: I guess it can be shortened somehow, right?

Thanks for everybody for the welcome!
