Only 7.2 ft/lb. There are stop collars on the bolts. You're only tightening them until they stop.

This is why it's necessary to replace the rubber/metal composite "donuts" on the bolts. The donuts are what actually push the valve cover against the gasket/head.

I stripped out threads at 7.0 ft.lbs. I followed the spec's and got screwed, what a hassel. (This is with new pressure donuts!

I'm suprised it wasn't mentioned ...... hand tighten until it stops, then tap Allen wrench with your finger to ensure firm. From experience I highly recommend NOT using torque wrench.

Thank, yah I read that in a couple other threads.
I planed on using (blue) to help seal the gasket. Now to just get the donuts cheap. And is that what there called ? Lol
Thanks for the help guys, you rock !

I got the "doughnut installation tool" Chacal sells. I tried one or two without it, and did the rest with it. It wasn't that hard to do without it, but the tool made it much much easier. For the $2.00 it cost it I thought it was worth it.

To get the old buggers off I cut the rubber down each side. I took a pair of tin snips and cut the metal on one side. Grabbed the rubber with pliers and pulled it off. Twisted a large flat screwdriver between the cut I made in the metal and gave it a twist. This would spread the metal enough to slip off over the threaded end of the bolt.

Took me about 20 minutes to do all of bolts.
