After proceeding through the various checkpoints to get my bike operating at peak efficiency, I am now in the carb tuning phase. I'm using the Morgan Carbtune in junction with the YICS Tool. Although the engine will register vacuum on the Carbtune without the YICS tool, with the tool in place the Carbtune will not register enough vacuum to move the gauges. What would cause the lack of gauge readings with the YICS tool in place?

Maybe the YICS tool is not giving you an airtight seal which could kill your vacuum reading. Just a thought, you could spray some carb cleaner at the tool and see if the idle changes. Maybe stupid question but did you leave the bolt in the opposite side from the tool?

    Is the YICS tool homemade?

The YICS tool is from XJ4Ever. I do have the bolt installed opposite the tool and the seal is tight without any air leaks. With the tool installed and the idle around 1400rpm it will barely register on the CarbTune gauges but it isn't enough to visually make any adjustments.

    1400rpm is too high.

Turn the big knob until it comes down to around 1100 or so; the vacuum should rise enough to give you readings you can compare.

You can also invert the CarbTune (they mention it in the instructions) but I've never had to.

Thanks for the assistance fellas. I was able to sync with the YICS tool after tweaking the idle.

I'm in about the same place but using a home made YICS tool version. Just cranked it up to see if the candle would light ... it did ..... and noticed that the vacuum was reading low also. This thread gives me something else to ponder.
