The Xj750 is almost finished after about 4 years of part time restoration, the next job before the MOT is setting up the carbs. It runs but pops and splutters so I'm thinking its running a tad rich. So, onto ebay and look for a Gunsons carb tuner.

Sick pickles man, looks deadly. Good luck with the last leg of your restore journey and lets not start an internal XJ bidding war on those Gunsons ok? :p

The paint job was the most expensive part of the restoration, about £400. The man who did the job claimed to have painted the Kenny Roberts flat tracker. I dare say someone will let me know if that is true. The black is metallic and the white is pearlescent. The design came from the Kenny Roberts paint job I saw a few years ago in the South of France on an XJR1200. (see picture)

The shot blasting and powder coating of the frame came to about £100.

I stripped the engine down and cleaned it up - the bargain was the complete gasket set for £15 from Ebay. Although I did once see a complete Yoshimura big bore piston kit which went for £15 - I still kick myself for not buying it.

The Motad 4-1 came from Ebay - brand new for £100. And yes it does need a new number plate.

I've sold this to my son for £20 as he has now passed his test and so another generation can ride the XJ. It is 5 years older than he is so hopefully it should last a little longer.

That paint scheme is genious! I have a 850XS Midnight Special that is too plain, I think I need to do something like that.
