I have a 1983 Midnight Maxim that I hoped to get running, but the PO never came through with a title. I can throw the parts on EBay, but after they get done with their fees, I'll might as well keep it. So here's the deal: the bike had around 15K on the original odometer before it was laid down. Now don't get scared, the most damage to it was some bent handlebars. I restored a lot of it until I realized I wasn't going to see the title. I can part with the whole bike, but it won't be cheap. I can part with the pieces, as long as the first piece I sell goes for a good price. The carbs have been gone through, and the gold caps look good. They haven't been mounted since they were gone though, and should be good to go. The exhaust is in good condition, with a spot of rust on one muffler. I have two seats, one in pristine condition, and one in very good condition except for some threads coming loose. Side panels are OK, swing arm caps are painted gold. Headlight is off and the gold trim is rough. Gauges have been replaced with low-mile replacements, (5700 miles) and the gauge cover is NOS in great shape. The mm emblem is there, and in OK shape. The gas tank is OK with no signs of rust inside and a shallow dent on top. The shocks and springs look excellent, the fenders very good with no rust and small scuffs. The wheels look nice, but forget about using the tires. The rear brake adjustment shows wear. The front pads are unknown, but the discs look good. The directionals are there but need a paint job. The handlebar is a new replacement "LTD" style, and the mirrors are good. The brake and clutch handles are missing, but I believe I have a new clutch handle. The cables need replacing. The motor should run as it was running when it was laid down. It looks good. Note to 650 midnight maxim owners: The air adjustable forks and dual discs would make a nice upgrade. I thought about it myself. I also thought about using the exhaust on my 650, but I don't know if it would fit. Maybe both are in your dreams and available here. I want a decent price for this bike. Please expect to pick this up or arrange for transportation.

Do you have any pics of the gas tank? Is the exhaust the stock black 4 into 2? Pics?

    The 83 is a 750. They made the 650 in 81.

I tried to post a picture but it didn't go in. This is a 750 with the stock 4-2 exhaust. I'm going to try again with the picture. $700 will take it away. I'll be happy to send more pictures. I just attached 2 pictures but the preview doesn't show them. I'll try a smaller one...

I posted some pictures in my gallery. I have the right hand side cover and the carb boots. I'll be happy to send more pictures of any part directly to any interested party.

If the only issue is no title that can be delt with for $75-$150 assuming its not stolen.

Sorry I didn't get back right away, but I found another 750 MM with a title, so now I'm keeping this one. I will have lots of parts available in the near future. Let me know what you're looking for. I'll have carbs, seats, directionals, everything you would imagine.

Does either one have a good/great condition King/Queen seat you want to sell/trade (for the flatter style).

I'd like to try the King Queen seat for 2up rides and swap out a spare flat seat for daily rides ;)

I might want some other stuff as well (Maybe a black painted front fender off the top of my head - if I had to repaint that's ok I just don't want to try painting my chrome fender).... Since you are within driving distance shipping would only cost me gas.

OK, here is what I have available for sale... ask if you don't see what you want:
Fenders ... both in decent shape with some very minor spots of rust.
Carbs, set of four complete, gold covers fair-poor condition, screws look well worn so they've been opened a lot, condition of inside parts unknown, I suspect they have a problem of some kind though. If you are interested I can open them up and inspect for visual damage but I can not test.
Gas tank, no dents but spots of rust, underneath no real rust, inside definitely some rust that needs to be cleaned.
Seat, Saddleman cover on it, looks intact, looks more gray than black.
    Seat #2 stock, minor wear.

I'll have more parts available as I start to break the one bike down. Any part I don't use is obviously available. Please make a reasonable offer on any parts you want. I will be reasonable in return. Local pickup is available.

    Thanks

It would probably be easier to swing by some Sunday afternoon with some cash, tool and any parts you might want/need to trade (probably not with a 2nd bike for parts).

Condition of the BLACK exhaust system? (Dents, rust, flaky paint etc).

One of those big hump King/Queen seats might be calling my name. (Could trade a small hump/normal seat if desired).

I'm not so much interested in the "gold" pieces but some of the "blacken" pieces you don't keep might save me the trouble of painting mine black - depending on condition. [My overall visual plan is a blacked out 82 750 without any of the gold bits - I'm not sure if I want to get rid of my "atari" gauge box or not yet.]

I completely stripped the parts bike today, and after a small project on my 850 tomorrow, I'll be putting the other 750 MM back together. I will have a complete black exhaust available, though its obviously not showroom new condition. I have other parts ready to go, too. Just ask.
