I posted a while back that I have had 10,000 nearly trouble free miles on my XJ650. The only bug was a fuse clip that went bad but I did a roadside bandaid fix to get home and then put in a blade-style fusebox.
Now, I just finished a 750 mile road trip over the weekend. I went through some very long stretches of roads through the northern Michigan wilderness without much fear of a breakdown. Honestly I had greater fear of hitting a deer or blowing a tire than having any mechanical breakdown.
So maybe we can have some fun with this..

My XJ is sooo reliable that 'it doesn't even get flat tires when I'm in the wilderness miles and miles from the nearest town.'

    I have a couple!

"...my mechanic had to go on Welfare."
"...BigFitz wonders why I never call."

Oh, this thread is going to be fun.

    Yeah guys!

My XJ is sooo reliable that I spent more money on shims and oil this year than I spent on repairs. (2013 repairs = $0.0)

My xj is so reliable that I usually work on it because I want to not cuz I have to!

Last summer I rode it 350 miles to the outer banks, nc for a weeklong family vacation and then 350 miles back. Put about 1000 miles on that week.

I put about 1200 miles on her over a weekend earlier this month riding 360mi out to Cleveland to a friends house on a Friday. Got up Saturday and rode 90mi to MidOhio sports car course, enjoyed a day of racing, then back to his house Saturday night. Got up Sunday and did the ride down there again, walked around all day watching races, rode back to his house.

Monday morning I had to ride 360 miles back home. And to top it off...I had to work that night.
Thru it all I didn't worry about the old girl one bit. And by chance if something would've gone wrong...I had tools and some idea of how to fix it!

My XJ is so reliable that I have no fear of riding it to work IN (downtown) DETROIT and back (60 miles one way.)

All I've had to do in nearly 11K miles since the recommissioning was replace a rear tire and keep up on scheduled maintenance and oil changes.

My XJ is so reliable it's like 1983 all over again.

my XJ is so reliable that I run it the 7 hours between NY and NH 1-2x a month and never worry I won't make it even at 64k+ on the clock.

Re: My XJ is soooo reliable that ___________ (fill in the bl

My XJ is so reliable.......I got more than 2. LOL

Actually, I ride the 700 airhead the most, and I also take it with me when I go on my summer music festival trip. I strap it down in the truck bed, load and strap the bbq grill in, hook up the camper, and go. Once I have everything set up at the festival, the truck gets parked behind the camper, and I use the bike for any trip needed for food, supplies, etc...........

The cap on the back of the truck is JUST tall enough that I can fit the bike in by taking off the spitfire windshield and the mirrors. I prop the cap up 3 inches, stuff the bike in, lower the cap and clamp it back down. Works like a charm. :)

My XJ is so reliable that it was my only mode of transportation from April 1988 to November 1988 (when, as a student, my car got wrecked) and then again that very same bike was my only mode of transportation 25 years later from April 2013 to July 2013 (when, again, my car got wrecked).

I guess history does repeat itself.....

And if you take care of it it'll still be reliable in 2038! (that is if the global warming, I mean, climate change crowd hasn't done away with fossil fuels by Obama's eighth term) 8O
