    Hey guys,

This will likely be my last post for a few weeks; moving East (Kitchener, Ontario to St John's, NL, Canada) on Tuesday morning. Taking the scenic route through Upstate new york (driving, not riding mind you), then north through Mass, NH, Maine, then back into Canada through NB, NS, then grabbing the big boat across to "the rock".

Had a great time meeting some of you fine SW Ontario XJ fellers, i'll proudly represent back out on the island! Hopefully there are still a few XJ's out there still, along with my 81 American import ;)

    Peace.

    Marcel

Made it to Moncton but i'm happy to announce that I did see an XJ on my journey! One of only a few japanese (let alone vintage) bikes in the US.

Coming north on 95 last night, around 7 or 8 I'm guessing a black 82/83 650 maxim (buckhorn bars looked to be the only clue), may have been a 750, with a missing right side cover and luggage passed me in the northern part of Maine doing probably 80-85 mph. It was following a bunch of rice burners (s2000, etc). Felt bad for whoever it was where it was raining and he was only wearing a t shirt, but sooner or later you'll get wet while riding. If that was someone on here i'd like to know who! Seemed to be running fine! Next stop, the Halifax, NS area for a visit with my bro, then onto the rock!

Marcel, sounds like your travels are going well.

It's always a thrill when you spot another XJ on the road. :D

Will do Paul! Arrived safe and sound but the Seca is on the truck, arriving next week. Not as cold as i'd expect, but holy what a windy spot :D.

Went out around "the bay" for a drive, I think i'll like it here, motorbike road wise. Pretty remote spot but there are some very scenic looking spots around here, cliffs, hills, turns, you name it!

    signing off for now,

    Marcel

    Hey guys,

Looks like Betty arrived safe and sound, and just in case you need some proof :)

    Anyone know where this is?

I think this is down by the Marine Lab, part of the local university (MUN):

The roads are way more interesting here, and more dangerous as a result i would imagine. Another bonus; when i switched my license over to the provincial license here i went to a full M license as opposed to a M2 (second level, needing exit road test). A bit of a lucky break for me, but it's not like i'm just 16 with some liter bike either. Maybe they took it easy me, ha!

Glad you and the bike made it safely. Time to explore Newfoundland and give us some serious Ride Report!

Good to see she made it safely.

Question: What kind of net is that? and where/how do you have it mounted?

Would be very handy for taking the kiddos' helmet with me when picking them up from school.

    "Anyone know where this is?"

A place where you could leave your bike in "buses only" parkings without getting a ticket, lol!

Hard to describe, like a cargo net with 3 hooks on either side. I have it connected to the blinkers, under the side cover and on the springs. I think it was bought at royal distributing; a pretty big Canadian motorcycle aftermarket shop. Perfect for all kinds of stuff, never mind the helmets.

Heh, too funny. It was pretty early and nobody was around. Signal hill is the name of the place, you get quite the view of the city and bay from there.

    https://picasaweb.google.com/home is what I use.

When you upload an image, you can share via the link, which allows you to paste the pictures already in, just takes a little while to get the hang of it.

There are a metric tonne of options for sure.

yeah davec, lived in Kitchener since 2000, had a few reasons for moving back so took the plunge. So far no regrets...

Hey Silver, long time buddy! The gauges you sold me are doing Betty well. Just over 3000 miles on those now, so I'm getting a bit of saddle time in. She's come a long way, in more ways than one ;)

    Hey guys,

Just had a nice little run with the entourage in tow (minivan). We just took a run on the north shore of the Avalon Peninsula, over to the west side and back home again ( around 2 hours, with a few stops ). Grabbed a few pics, what a beautiful fall day here. Only around 18 degrees Celsius but that's perfect temps for riding IMHO.

From another angle. Not much past here except, well, Europe:

A Bullwinkle that looks like he must've gotten winged by a car (He's likely in the soup now at the local seniors home):

Hoping to get a few more rides in before it gets too cold, but so far it looks like the season is pretty much over towards the end of October. Have a good one guys and enjoy the leaves turning color (where applicable).
