    If it is engineered properly, it would be safe, the XJ 750 has a cable to M/C set up.

    Sure it'll work Wiz, but why add 9 extra bits that don't have to be there just to shorten your brake line? Unless you have the worlds most expensive paint job up top and your trying to lower the poison paint fluid out of contention for a damage flow.

    ...and on a serious note, will this setup not shorten the life of your fluid due to the fluid in the reservoir getting hotter over it's life?

    #1. Donno about anyone else, but I get lots of dings around the tires (rocks, railings, children, etc), so wouldn't want something that important sticking that far out.

    The XJ750 Seca has a remote master cylinder; the Maxim has a conventional.
    Mounting the master clinder on on an unsprung part of the bike will likely make the fluid prone to foaming. IIRC adding air bubbles to the system is not desireable.
