Cruise RPMs

    Typically when you are riding what RPM is the most efficient to operate at?

    Yamaha considers "cruise" to be 5000rpm. I like to keep 4K on the tach minimum.

    4K is a comfortable place for me, but is it the most efficient in terms of fuel economy, I really don't know.

    Sometimes we have to make a compromise between how much time to go from point A to point B, how much fuel we will use and how much fun we will have, eh? Efficiency could become boring sometimes...

    I'm turning 4k when i'm doing 88km/h I think it's around 3650-3700 when i'm running 80km/h.

    at 4000 rpms im at 55 mph. At 6000 Rpms in at 80mph. I dont cruise more that 90mph, but when i have my gas milage didnt seem to suffer too much

    @ 5000 rpm my spedo says 80 km/hr on my 750, can anyone let me know if its right?I seem to be leaving the traffic behind me ( and the traffic is never slow around here on the highways) but thats what im at for rpm's on the highway.It feels like im doing 110 km/hr our speed limits only 100

    Im at about 4200 rpm doing 100KPH on my 750; sounds like your speedo or tacho might be out.
