Fist off, hello and I'm new to this site.

I have been restoring a 82 xj750j and love this bike. I have it running like new and even got a new (old stock) Yamaha fairing for it, so I was told. It has Yamaha emblems on it and the part # looks to be a Yamaha part # too. It's 24m-28300-50. Does any one know of any pictures of a xj750j with a factory frame mounted fairing on it? I think I have all the hardware to install it, just don't know where to start. Looks like the headlight bucket and turn signals will need to be removed. I will take some pictures of the bike and fairing later.

    Thanks,

    Kent.

The Maxim did not come with a factory fairing. At least not that I know of. The Seca did, so the fairing you have is probably off one of those. It still should work. The only difference in mounting would be the handlebars. The Seca bars were 7/8" round and the '82 Maxim has the adjustable ones that are square.

This information is off the XJCD with reference to the XJ750RH model.

The Seca's fairing mounts to the upper fork pinch bolt and the turnsignal upper mounting bolt. (not the handle bars)

The headlight bucket is not removed, a gasket is installed around the rectangular headlight to seal it to the fairing.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I will need to get the XJCD. I wonder if this fairing will work on my xj750j then.

That's not the fairing I was refering to from the XJCD, obviously a different model!

Yes, you would have to remove the headlight and signals for that model of fairing to fit.

That fairing was part of the Yamaha Deluxe Tour Package. See the link

Good day. I'm Jim and I am new to the list. I ride a Seca 750 that I put together from a basket case. I had a Maxim with a factory optional fairing when I was younger.
It mounted to the frame, to the bolt holes on a crossmember under the steering head.
By the way, I need to do a valve adjustment. Is there a CD I can purchase that will tell me how?

    Happy trails, Jim
