So I came across a sweet deal on an 81 XL 500. The bike is cool stock, but I want to make a Tracker. I have been trying to fit a Honda Cb 350 tank on this frame and it has not been easy. I ran around a couple of different ideas but it is proving to be a pain and I need advice from some pros. I would rather not cut the frame as I am not that experienced with welding yet. Thought of making a bracket to raise the tank up about an inch and a half the length of the frame. Has anyone done something similar before? Any suggestions on the cheap? Thanks.

That started out as a dirt bike. In PA the title for those said off road only.
Might want to check into that.

Clarification: The Engine is an XR replacement. Frame is XL Already modded the rear half.

Tank raised with a one inch spacer. Where I think it looks best for the way I want to take this project.

Looking at some tires now. Most of my riding will be on the road. May hit the dirt if the NEED arises. Kenda k761 Dual Sports seem like they would do well. Any comments? Recommendations?
