HI, Thanks to all that have devulged information on this XJ650 to me. I am happy to report it is running very well, nice lttle whirlly sound the engine makes when driving. I tuned the mixtures, and then sync'd the carbs and it purrs, all ranges. I've read the blocking of the YICS ports isn't necessary? I kinda agree, what is the deal? if all is pulling the same vac, won't it stay true if blcoked off or not? Thanks again Yammies

Depends on who you ask.... Some say yes, some no.

At the end of the day if you are happy with the way it's running then you have done what you needed to do :)

My take on the YICS is that it balances the vacume and fuel delivery between the carbs and promotes a stronger swirl for a better air fuel mix.In my opinoin the best way to properly sync and get the right idle mix for each individual carb would be to plug the ports and totaly isolate each carb from the others. I have done it both ways and the bike idles a wee bit smoother when the ports were blocked off. There are many people here FAR more knowledgable about this than I am and have heard both ways is acceptable.
Edit:post the year and model bike in your sig and it'll help others answer future questions.
