My bike was running great and then I had to rebuild the master cylinder. I got that fixed and didn't even touch the throttle or anything! I fired it up last night and I shot right up to 4000 rpms and stayed there. I tried to adjust the throttle but that would not make a difference. I turned down the idle all the way and that didnt help. I did notice the throttle is not smooth, it snaps back ok but to turn it, it seems to be sticking. The master cylinder or ignition switch is not tight against it :? What should I look to do?? I know this is pretty simple. I am scared to keep it running at that high an RPM while I troulbleshoot. Will that hurt the bike any?

Hi, did you took off the carb? In case you should check the throttle cable at the carb. I had this as I replaced the carb some time ago. See the pic. A small mistake having a big impact! Could happen.

Check where the throttle cable inserts at the hand grip. There should be some adjustment nuts there - perhaps you played with those when taking the master cylinder off? Either way - you should trace out the throttle cable. If everything looks good - it never hurts to pull it off and lube it up for smooth operation. It might be sticking.

I noticed you didn't say anything about the choke, just to make sure that you are covering all the bases, are you taking the choke off, cuz mine will jump right up there to 4000 until i start moving the choke off and then it backs down 1000-1500 somewhere in there... just a thought, i'm sure you have thought of it, but just want to make sure

Thanks guys...I put drag bars on this bike and when I was messing around I pushed the excess throttle cable back towards the motor, this caused it to be somewhat kinked, causing the high rev, like I thought, easy problem!
