I was wondering if you were still around. :)

9/11 ride is coming up if your new bike is in riding condition.

    Very nice :)

Just picked up a Vegas xts half helmet. Very happy with my purchase. Its low profile for a dot approved helmet and doesn't move around at all. Id highly recommend it for anyone looking.

Bike is looking great. I am not a fan of the spring seat on a bike that has shocks though. Just seems like too many springs. Just my opinion. I like the bars on your bike, and usually don't like Apes. I went with the keystones a few moths back and am digging them. Later.

running the seat without springs (even with the rear shocks at their stiffest preload) the tire and seat would make contact on bigger bumps.

as for the rear fender, he was referring to the older pic I had of the tractor supply fender on the rear.

I'll have to snap a pic of the bike in its latest form with the tractor supply fender set on there.

in the meantime, some pics from the local 9/11 memorial ride.

and hopefully this works... a vid of the bikes on the ride. I roll through around 5:05.

That definitely looks like a set of forward controls from TC Bros.

    Here: http://www.tcbroschoppers.com/forward-c ... l-kit.html

    * I'm not sure if these would bolt on to the XJ700 or not.. they also sell a "universal kit" and a linkage kit seperately. I haven't ever heard anything bad about them.

spot on... they are TC Bros XJ650 controls. you just have to space them out to clear the header pipes.

had the bike out today for the 2013 Motorcycle Miracle Tour.

it was a beautiful ride and always a great event to attend.

Take your front fender off, too.

Go to my gallery and check out my red 700 so you can see what that would look like.

I am wanting a seat like the stock one in the earlier pics. Has anyone tried mounting an 85 stock front seat on an 83 XJ750?

    Cool bike

I've had the front fender off before... actually for last year's miracle tour.

bike looked great but it sucked on the 40 mile ride home in the rain. until i figure out a way to keep the water spray down without the front fender, it'll be staying. :)

mirrors came from amazon. got inspiration from one of tc bros bikes.

Is that your Cherokee in the one pic? If so, have you been to Rausch and are you a member on JF? I'm finishing up my '92 Cherokee and need to get to work on my '83 XJ that I've been stalled out on for a few years now.

That is my old cherokee in the background and I did go to rausch with jf awhile back. I sold it about a year ago and have been missing it ever since.

Hoping to get back in to some sort of jeep in the not too distant future.

Want to buy mine? '92 with D44/9", 4.88 gears, lockright locker in the front and mini spool in the rear. Brand new 35" MTZ's, rockhard cage, after market front and rear bumper. Rear has wrap around protection and swing out tire carrier. Front has a brand new emgo winch with synthetic line.... all that and more....

Oh, and frame stiffeners, brand new T&T longarms, T&T sliders......

Pulled the battery box and the gauges to see how it would look.

I'm digging the lack of gauges. I'll probably go with a smaller speedo. Also looking at a faux oil tank to clean up/hide the wiring

    Pulled the airbox...

Plans are to run pods with the stock boots...

Tossing around the idea of possibly hard tailing the bike as well after seeing this...

I like how they hard tailed without using the shaft drive as an integral part of the hard tail. The lines on the frame flow beautifully.

Hi Strat, the forward footrests and controls you have, did you fab the connecting plates or are they available to buy? I want a more forward foot position on mine and your setup looks ideal.

newb21... "tc bros is who I bought the controls from. they are for the xj650. you need to buy different hardware to mount them as the 650's have threaded holes in the frame where the 700 has through holes and you will need spacers to clear the outer header tubes. (i bought an extra set of nuts to use as spacers)"

orange n black... i have a wheel off a fazer 600 that is a 16" front and is a bolt on affair. taking after maxiumux's xj700x

How about some outside "C" brackets attached to the frame where you trimmed the rails and running along the fender edge towards the rear like a Harley?

I'm looking to mount to the swing arm... I want to run the fender as close to the tire as possible and the only way to do that without hard tailing is to mount to the swing arm.

It would probably be easiest to mount a bracket for the fender to where the springs connect, that way you don't need to make a new attachment. But you probably want to attach it on the other end of the fender too. Might have to drill and tap a hole in the pivot part of the swingarm to bolt that down.

Mount the front at the lower(hinge) part of the swingarm and run a couple of 1/4 inch struts from the lower shock mounts to the rear of the fender. That's about the only choice you have.

    12" apes from tcbros

Orange n black... That's what I'm looking at doing... Just haven't figured out a clean way to do it yet and I will need to space it from the "hinge" to follow the radius of the tire.

Or you could mount the base of the fender to the swingarm and run struts from the rear of the swingarm to the back edge of the fender.. that way its attached to swingarm completely and moves with it

Just got done *actually reading* your thread to prevent stupid questions. :D

Hey, man, in all seriousness, killer bike. I’ve an ’82 XJ bobber project and I was reeeeeeeally glad you posted the closeup picture of the forward seat mount. I’m having issues figuring out how mine’s gonna go on there, exactly, but the mount hits right about where yours does, so I guess that’s solved with a simple bracket.

Love what you’ve done here. Will be following this thread closely.
