Hey, I'm a new rider of an 82 xj750. I love the bike, but recently my front left blinker went out, so when I make a right turn all I get is a solid light in the rear blinker. I assume that the reason for the solid light in the rear is that the voltage is thrown off from the lack of a front blinker. I've gone to a few shops and every time I get a replacement bulb it never lights up. Could someone let me know what type of bulb I should be looking for? Thanks!

Not necessarily. I had an issue a while back where the left blinked just fine, but the right was on solid. Turned out to be a semi-loose connection coming from the right/rear light -- crimped the female connector down a bit, and the problem went away. I'd check those first.

Male sure that all the Bulbs work.
    Isolate Left from Right.
Make sure the Left side wiring are to Left side Lights
    Likewise, ... Right.

Then, test the Circuits for Juice when the Switch is closed.

You need good old 1156's (27W) bulbs in all 4 to make the flasher work.

If it still doesn't flash it is more than likely a loose connection as suggested above.

Another possible cause is a weak battery; the charging system isn't doing anything below about 2500rpm, so it's all on the battery to run the motor, the lights and flash the signals unless you're at speed.

Fitz is right. Most bulbs sold that resemble moto blinker bulbs currently being used aren't compatible. Even though they look the same and fit into the socket/sleeve most are utility bulbs (like for a glovebox etc.).

If your blinkers aren't DOT stock then you might be able to get a part# or model# off one of the working bulbs and match it up if they are exotic blinkers (never know any more). DOT are the best for safety, even if not for style.

Don't ride without working blinkers, at least not left hand blinkers if you plan to stop on a busy road at night.
