By all means, disconnect the battery first.

Be careful not to turn the cams toward "the tool" at any time.

If you hit a snag or have a question, stop and post it.

I just got mine done last week, Thanks to BigFitz' writeup it was a breeze. Now I just need to paint everything, and put it all back together. Good luck and have fun!

I am getting help with it from a friend of mine who
    has done it before
for some reason I am scared to do this
fear of messing it up and breaking something
    so so silly

Somebody did maintenance. At 30K they wouldn't all be in spec otherwise. Were there any that are quite close to being tight?

If so, I'd check again 3000 miles down the road instead of waiting the full 5000 miles, since you don't really know when they were adjusted. Then start the 5K intervals.

    Good job.

all the exhaust ones were perfect
and the others were pretty bang on.. only one was even kinda tight
but nothing that would worry a person
I just feel good, cause now I can finally start doing stuff
of course the compression test is yet to come
but I am really not too worried about it
especially after how easily it started today
and from the short little albeit suicidal test drive I gave it
    when I got it home
and yeah fitz I know you hate when someone messes with
the look of one of these bikes
but I promise I will not do you wrong ;)
just putting on new bars, giving it a new paint job
a different rear fender and a solo seat
it will look good, I promise!

    wow, she is a beauty
I love how the Motorcycle companies are going back to
the classics to inspire the new bikes
    like the new Honda CB

if I was rich I would have a bike for every day of the week!
