Hi folks jiust got my hands on an imported australian 1983 xj750 ex police bike and looking at working on this to get it going again not much luck yet but i did get it for a bottle of jack daniels

hi all , just wondering if anyone has the rear brake pedal pivot for the 750 seca. I also have the two side panels rear panel and rear light if anyone wants them.
Also for anyone in the uk carb building I have found that the throttle shaft seal is Suzuki Part No. 13651-51010.
about £1:80 each and widely available. also for a quick tip , the throttle shaft directly connected to the throttle cable wears . This isnt noticable on tick over but when the throttle is opened and has pressure onit , it will let a bit of air in even with new seals . I was taught that a simple small o ring that will sit into the V of the new shaft seal overcomes this and provides a better seal

 

elo all im from coventry and have almost completed the resteration on a 1982 650 turbo
iv yet to see one on the road , the turbo whine is brilliant its gunna be hard to let this one go :roll:
anyone else out there who has one iv loads of spares

 

Sad to see not many new UK owners, I shall endeavour to make up for that by being a UK owner with an XJ750E-II, think that oughta count as 10 UK owners seeing as nobody else seems to have a real one lol 8O

You'd be best off in the for sale/wanted area mate, not many people look this far down the page (the Other forum is right down the bottom).

I've got one but don't plan on parting really as she's a bit of a rarity worldwide let alone in the UK 8O I'm her current custodian & want to get back to original before selling (even got braided lines inside cut up original rubber hoses!!!)

Any XJ750 is not a common bike over here however so may be that ebay is the place to look

another B.A.B. here, I'm based in Bedfordshire

I haven't ridden for 12 years but my 50th is coming up fast and I felt the urge to get onto 2 wheels again, got myself an '81 XJ650 off evilbay for 500 quid, several issues to get sorted but 10 months tax & MOT so a rideable restoration during the baking hot summer we're gonna have :twisted:

I had an XJ550 back in the 80's, loved it, it was my first "big" bike, magical days, I went on to bigger & sportier things but that 550 was special ('til some clown pulled out in front of me at a mini roundabout). The new bike is bringing all those memoriesl back 8)

Love this site, some great technical stuff that has helped me out already and it's good to see so much enthusiasm for the old Japs

HI Andy, Welcome,the British side is quiet,compared to the American side,they make up most of the running on Here.
I had an New 81 XJ650 in Silver,so when i could no longer resist the urge for a bike, I had to have an XJ.... i couldnt get a 650 so i got a 1992 XJ900 instead.
Anyhow theres Everything XJ on here, so Enjoy your Bike and Take Care.

hi all
i've been on here a couple of years nearly, but this is the first time i've seen this thread,
got my xj600 1991 2 years ago as a write off from a salvage yard in todmorden. been rebuilding as a cafe racer (slowly)

heres how it came.



bit of a state i know, no tank or seat , ignition coils ,starter solenoid missing ,bent forks and frame and twisted bottom yoke.
but the above problems have now allbeen resolved and i am beginning my build

 

frame now straightened, stripped ,delugged altered rear subframe and rear shockmount to lift back end


frame now sprayed metallic red


i dont want to cary on putting pictures on till i've completed my build which may be late next year.
as i've seen so many build threads go cold when the poster has hit a snag
i'll let you all know how progress is going though
