Hey I was looking for a new seat and not really sure what to do...

The seat I have is in rough shape. The foam is old but in descent shape only one small spot has a chunk missing.

There are a few different ways to go about this and not sure what to do. I would like to keep it as close to stock as possible but close will work for now.

    Found this on ebay. http://m.ebay.com/itm/310827863619?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1.

Has anyone ever used one of them before? Good/bad??

Next there is someone that lives near me that does upholstery and did a pretty good job on some boat seats. But I haven't personal talked to her but I was quoted around 60$ and I guess that's with out new foam.

Anyone have any info that I could check out first???
    Please let me no!!

    Thanks a lot.
    Jim

Re: Look for a new seat

Might be worth seeing if your local shop can reupholster the one you have, as long as the pan is in good shape. I had mine redone beautifully for an awesome price.

Mike has made all of my covers, the one for my 750, 550, and 400, and I am always more than satisfied.

Plus his prices can't be beat!

My 550 seca seathad a few chunks missing from it, but because he adds a thin layer of foam on the seat portion it takes care of covering up the missing foam.

    And here's some mounted pictures.

I had them put on at the local upholstery shop and they charged 30$ a seat to put them on. Not too bad i figured, but now looking back I probably would have just went at it with a staple gun, doesent seem to hard.

Sargent Cycle Products: http://www.sargentcycle.com/Custom-Seat-Services/ did my Seca's seats:

"Stock" re-cover, with color-matched welt added (the welt and the stripes on the bike are a nice scarlet RED, the camera and the lighting screwed it up)

Recontoured and up-foamed seat, "riding platform" raised and extended while still maintaining a nearly stock appearance:

Thanks for the info everyone. Nice pics also.

Mtnbike can't pass up that deal. Save a little cash and put it towards something else on the bike.
