Ok, most of you guys have been reading my posts about the issues with my bike and the work I have been doing, so im not going to backtrack.
Anyway, I came home today and put oil in it like I said i would in my last post and fired her up....Sounded great. But, after she warmed up I went down some back roads and tested her. She seemed fine. But after a few min. every time I rolled to a stop the motor sounder as if it was building up to blow. I cant type the sound well but I'll try.

    "eeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEE33333333333!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I got my ass home fast, but when I pulled into the neighborhood it felt as if I was loosing power when I hit the gas and it felt like there wasnt the power I use to have and when I ideled it sounded like compression was an issue but Im not a mechanic. Also, the bike has a habbit of stalling will im going down the road right as I pull in the clutch to switch gears. That happens when I take her out just about every time. When she stalled on me today at 55mph I pulled the clutch and quickly droped down to nutral and hit the starter and It fires back up. Works every time but still, what the hell?

I'm going to need the bike this monday so the Mrs.'s can use my truck. I need to go about 15-25 miles on the bike to work and back. I just dont feel confident that she will make it.....What should i do guys? Im lost and upset.

Also, here are 8 pics of the bike I took today with my cell phone after I got home.

For starters, when you need to start it you shouldn't have to be in Neutral if you have the clutch pulled. Sounds like you need to chase some electrical gremlins. Might start by cleaning all the switches and connectors up. Also have a look at your sidestand switch to make sure it functions properly.

Warms up, sounds funny, seems to loose power. Something temperature related. When's the last time valve shims were serviced? If you've got a valve not closing when hot you could do some serious damage.

    You're GROUNDED.

    Don't run the bike.
    Catastrophic engine failure may result.

    Pull the plugs.
Report on how the plugs "Look"
Examine the ceramic surrounding the center electrode tip.
    Cracked? Fractures? Hairline cracks?

You gotta be running way to lean.
You may have done harm to the engine ... I hope not.

Do not run the bike until you report your findings.
    Compression test.
    Fully charged battery.
    Pulled plugs.
    Throttles wide open for testing.

Don't run the bike until the situation is corrected.
    Catastrophic engine failure may result.

    Step 1
    Compression test results.

My exhaust isn't the reason I'm running lean is it?

And how do I do a compression test?

Did you re-Jet your carbs to handle the NO exhaust?

You must be running super lean.
Not good. No good at all!

    LEAN is Bad!
LEAN generates more heat at the moment of combustion.
LEAN burns hotter and heat is the enemy of small engines.
LEAN burns-up all the fuel including the sheen of Oil intended to lubricate the Cylinder Wall.
    LEAN can KILL the engine.
    You might:
    Burn a Valve.
    Burn a Valve Seat.
    Warp the Head.
    Crack the Head.
    Blow a Gasket.
    Crack Piston Rings.
Score Cylinder Walls and burn oil.
Weld a hole right through the top of a piston.

It's really late here, If you're gonna be home I'll call ya in the morning tomorrow. Gotcha, ill be on aim.

Any 82XJ550 owners here ever ran a compression test on their bike? If so, if you remember what the pressure readings were I would like to know. Just curious, I'm planning on attempting one myself in the morning.

A bit off topic, but what kinda exhaust is that? Is it a MAC 4-2, or just replaced mufflers?

Aftermarket exhaust. If you plan on running this exhaust system, plan on moding you're carbs so you don't burn up you're motor like me due to running way way too rich. I'm not sure if my motor is burned up yet but I know for sure It's been burnin and over heating because of this exhaust. Rick told me that to deal with this loud/open exhaust I'm prolly going to need to upgrade my jets.

Probably unrelated, but on my honda 350 when I would accelerate hard or was travelling at a high rate of speed, it would stall if I pulled the clutch in. It ended up being the gas cap vent was stuck closed causing a vacuum in the tank and starving the engine.

Seeing your exhaust I would put money on leanness, but I thought I would throw some confusion in here. Sorry.
