It's time for new shocks! Where do I begin? The primary reason for swapping is that I really need to lower my bike's height. I am currently unable to put my heels down and it makes me really unsteady.
The front forks and the current shocks were adjusted to get me closer to the ground, but I need a bit more.

What am I looking for? Where should I look? How much should I look to spend? Are they easy to change? Anything else I can do to shorten? What else should I ask/know?

    Thanks, all!

I have seen people on here use shocks from a Suzuki Savage to lower their bike in the rear.

Progressives are a lot cheaper than Hagons.

You could probably go 1.5" ~ 2" shorter than stock without causing clearance issues; and Thrasher is right. Get new shocks, the correct ones for your bike but in a shorter length, and they'll bolt right up.

I got a set of "RFY" cheapo shocks, and will be doing a rebuild through this guy: http://sav0r.com/wp/

Progressives. Okay. What height am I looking for? I see that some sites have progression charts or something. Are these important?

How were your current shocks "adjusted" to make them lower? Can you get the seat reshaped? I hate reducing a bike's clearance...

The seat has already been reshaped. The guy at the shop said he turned them to their lowest setting. Maybe a stiffer ride? I didn't notice much difference in height.

At the shop? Seriously? All he did was adjust the preload to the lightest setting, which would have given you a less-stiff ride. Adjusting the preload on your shocks is a standard "owner adjustment" like sliding the seat back in your car.

When I get home I'll look up the stock shocks/lengths for your bike and give you some specific options and possibilities from Progressive Suspension.

    OK, here you go:

Stock shocks for your bike: http://www.progressivesuspension.com/pr ... odelID=736

    Progressive Suspension spec chart: http://www.progressivesuspension.com/pdfs/7100-105.pdf

Your bike takes a 12.5" shock originally; you can lose 1" without causing severe handling issues; especially if you slide the forks up in the triple trees a like amount.

So, in a 12-series, instead of the 12-1201B shock body, you'd want the 12-1215B (11.5") shock and the 03-1312B or C (black or chrome) springs.

You can use the spec chart to "resize" other models of their shocks; I did the 12-series because they're the most economical.

    Hi,
I just bought a set of these shocks for my 750P.

Keith put some heavier springs in(I carry around a bunch of extra weight all day) and set them to the right height for me... can't ask for better service and the price is nice too.

Compared to my stock shocks these are BEAUTIFUL to ride on for me. So far so good!

EDIT: Keith just let me know that the length wasn't locked in, although they were the right length. I'll be popping them off to apply the loctite that was supplied, later.

The shocks are extendable at the bottom and they have a lock nut.

They come with a tube of loctite and instructions to find the right length and apply the loctite and then set them up... I neglected to do that since they were already the right length!

They haven't shifted either so... thats a win, but I will loctite them as per the instructions soon I'm thinking.
