Has anyone had an issue getting the valve cover off of a Turbo Seca? I've done it dozens of times on all other models and I just can't get the sucker off. Before I unbolt the engine from the frame does anyone have any tricks?
    Thanks!

Thank you for the response K-Moe.

Just to be clear, the valve cover is jammed up against the frame near the front of the bike. I can get it loose enough to access most of the valves but I can't get it completely off. Has anyone had this problem?

You can (if you have to) remove the motor mount bolts and dis-connect the driveshaft and allow the motor to drop down about an inch.
(dis-connecting a bunch of other hardware as well)

Does anything look bent? I'm pretty sure the seca and turbo seca frames are the same apart from different mounting tabs. Maybe like remove the oil cooler mounting tabs/horn mounting bracket to see if you get more room.

Do the motor mounts look bent?

    Hey all,
It looks pretty straight and it drove fine the last time I rode it in 2008. Looking back in the repair records, apparently the PO had trouble removing it as well. A mechanic made note of it in 2004. I'll try removing some of the smaller parts before I unbolt the frame and let you know how it goes.
    Thanks again.

Are you trying to remove the valve cover with the fuel tank and bodywork still in place?

Nope, everything removed. I'm working off the 'something's bent' theory. I'll have another look tomorrow.

In that case I agree. Something must be bent. That cover should come off, and out, without undue difficulty.

    Hey all,

So nothing appears bent but I had to unbolt the engine to get it low enough to get the valve cover off. In doing so, I've cracked the cover.

I've put on a Seca 650 valve cover superficially. It lines up perfectly and the cams will turn over. It also fits better because it's slightly slimmer. Is there any reason I shouldn't use it?

    Thanks again!
