Fitting exhaust

    Just got a MAC 4-1 exhaust, but I can't seem to get this thing on for anything. After finally getting headers on and sliding the muffler as far on as it will possibly go the rear bracket is off by about 3 inches(the muffler is further back than the bolt) So I'm off to the hardware store to buy another bolt, some lock washers, some rubber washers and some sort of metal bar I can drill holes in at the appropriate length. Another problem is that the exhaust seem to get in the way of the center stand. Can I adjust this so it sits a little more angled because if I pull the center stand down about 3 inches the muffler sits MUCH better and the center stand is still functional, but I don't want it just resting on the chrome muffler. I could just remove it I suppose, but I like to store it on the center stand sometimes cause it's more stable and I worry about kids running around near it when it's parked. I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I think the guy I bought it from had a SECA. Is what I'm doing reasonable/safe? Thanks for the input.

    I also have the 4-1 exhaust and I had to do some bracket modifications to mount the can. I didn't have any issues with the center stand though.

    You must have something mounted wrong. That system will fit right on with no center stand issues. If you first put the bike on the center stand before mounting the headers. Once you get them in place, before you tighten the header bolts, make sure they are snug against the inside of the exhaust ports! It's tricky getting all four of the header pipes slid inside the openings at the same time and getting the bolts started.
    The muffler mount may have to be modified with a short strap to reach the hole in the foot peg mount. I think the Maxims have shorter rear footpeg mounts than the Seca, so the muffler-mount hole will be off a little.
    Let me know if you have any other problems getting the system on. I can't beleive it won't slip right on... I'm stumped!!
    I removed it and installed the stock headers from a 650 Maxim on my 750 Seca, so I know they are identical, and the measurements should be the same. >PD<

    I've got it on, kept the everything real loose till I got it all mounted, the tightened the header bolts. Needed to fashion a strap to hold the muffler, no biggie there. Now my issues are these, my oil filter is gouged to the point it it leaking oil everywhere. Glad I won that auction that was posted up in my other thread! Only leaks oil when running, bike won't stay running unless you rev it(I ran it for less than a minute) and a popping noise seems to be coming from the headers so Im guessing I may have to replace the seals or I may just not have them on there right. I wish I knew someone who knew something about motorcycles, there's a reason I went into computers for a living :) The exhaust is mounted, but I had to lower the centerstand to put it on, and now in the up position the centerstand rests against the muffler I suspect this will cause wear and possibly vibration/noise at that spot. Also I'm assuming I have to retune my carbs now that I replaced the exhaust which is going to be interesting to say the least as I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Gonna be quite the learning experience...
