Is this an easy swap? Im building a brat style 1100 and I'd like an 18" rear rim instead of the stock 16" on the 1100. Is this an easy swap out swap in? I wasn't sure with the shaft drive.

Isn't the 650 a drum brake set up? The 1100 is a disc brake.
You can fit a 17inch rear from certain models of XS1100. Some were 16 and some 17inch.
If you go down that route make sure you use the correct spacers and brake bracketry to suit. Can't quite remember the exact set up procedure.

Shoot, you are right my '82 1100 is disc, that bums me out I was really thinking this 18" wheel idea was going to work, is there an 18" option in the xj series that had disc brakes?

That would be the Seca 900 - but I don't know about axle and drive-spline compatibility. And the style of rim would be mis-matched.

Thanks for the heads up, but ya I'd want to keep rims matching, maybe I'd be better off trying to find a 17" as it sounds like there were 1100's with 16" & 17" rear rims? From what I can see the the XJ 1100 was a one year production in '82 and anything that might fit would be XS rear rim, and again it's a different look.

Thinking that I'm going to have to stick with the 16" rear unfortunatly.

OOOOOOR, and this is again where I look to you guys, will XS 1100 front and rear rims be an easy swap in/out? If I'm wanting matching rims and an 18" in the rear I think this will be my only option?

Looks like the XS 1100's rear was only 17" from what I can see?

Some of the XS1100 were 16inch, like the Special and the Midnight Special.
    Others were 17inch.
If you want to use the front wheels, which are the same size as XJ1100's at 19inch, then also use the speedo drive from the transplanted wheel.
As a side note, some of the two stroke RD series had 18inch front wheels.

    Option 1 - - you simply improvise a drum brake set-up.

    Option 2 - - Check out the earlier XS 750 , , , isn't it an 18 " ??
It had a classic "I" beam look, and a matching front rim.

    From Bikez - -

    Rear tyre dimensions: 4.00-18

Thank you my friend, I like the XS750 option, looking into that. Thanks again.
