that is my dads. he is a packrat of the older things. we have a wall just full of old model cars that he has had forever. that bike though is a 68 Sears screamer. i think 5 speed shifter on it with a sissy bar and butterfly handlebars with that small tire in the front

These bicycles were fun for wheelies, but very difficult to control on gravel roads.

Don't ask me how I know that...

that is sweet! I thought it might have been a Schwinn. they had a similar frame with the 5 speed "stick shifter". still very cool! I have never seen a set of handlebars like that.

i used to ride it around and it was definitely different and quite easy to start shifting with your knee. very easy to wheelie too! lol

Is the Kawasaki a twin or triple ? parts are bound to be scarce but must be worth putting back on the road!

i do believe she's a twin. it's all original but my cousin said she had low compression when he had it running a few years ago. hopefully something just running it will clear up!

Should be a twin I don't think they used to make triple in the sixties

Edit: I want to correct the information, Kawasaki started the production of the triple 500 H1 in 1968. This said, all triples I know have the double exhaust on the right side, the one on the picture doesn't...

Maybe if the engine looks wide it's because the tank is small...

The bike picture in this thread appears to be a Samourai 250 cc, with a two-stroke twin engine, like the one here:

    http://www.moto-net.com/images/kawa-500-H1-1.jpg

This is the very first or one of the first two-stroke motorcycle models Kawasaki has ever produced.

The engine looks very big for a 250cc. Air-cooled two-stroke looked very wide then because the fins were very deep.
