Brake line length for drag bars

    I have been looking for a while but can't seem to find a measurement. Surprised no one else has ever asked. I want new brake lines but don't know what length i should get with my drag bars. The old rubber ones are all bunched up and look terrible.

    Get a length of plastic hose or a extension cord about the size of brake line, lay it how you want it, measure it, allow for fittings and order it.

    Remember also that new bars may affect the 'twist' on the line, and stainless lines have little or no flexibility when it comes to twisting. So you also need to carefully measure what the relative rotations are from the banjo bolt at the master cylinder to the one at the wheel cylinder.
    Some stainless lines come with fittings that rotate, but the fixed ones are better.

    Talk to Chacal. I just went through this with my drag bars. He also had me get a different master cylinder that would sit a little more level with my bars.

    I then took the stainless steel braided hose off my utility sink to approximate the distance between my new MC and the line connector on the lower fork brace. Mine ended up being about 12.5 inches. Chacal sent me a test fit line that had only one end crimped so I could twist the other end freely.

    I attached it, rotated the loose end, then marked the orientation with a sharpie. I sent it back to him, he crimped it, and back it came. Perfect, custom, DOT approved, and totally affordable.

    and how do you like the new MC? im in the same boat, about to look into what my options are for more level one. easy to replace?

    Extremely easy. It's basically the exact same design but with a different mount angle. I swapped the new cover with the original so I could keep the "YAMAHA" lettering, but that's about it.

    I can't honestly speak much further about it, as I don't have it all assembled yet - I've been waiting for the weather to warm up so I can strip the chipped enamel off the caliper before repainting it (needs to be done outside, since I don't have a vent fan), but it should be a quick job after that.
