The weather was finally warm enough to go on a short ride today. Bike ran great plenty of power and zip. I think I might need a slight clutch adjustment but everything else seemed tight and smooth. It's gonna cool a bit tomorrow then warm back up so plan on taking a much longer ride and really shake her down.

Very envious, I will have to wait at least six weeks before my first ride of the year.

Glad to hear the bike runs well, please do the maintenance on your brakes before you go any faster!

Already did all the maintenance. New rear shoes front pads and lines also rebuilt calipers and master cylinder. Also did the valve clearances new fork seals cleaned carbs fluid changes new plugs and petcock rebuild also derusted the tank. Anything else that you can think of to make it as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Last weekend it was in the 70's in east tn. I put some fresh gas in the tank and hit the starter button. Fired right up in 2 seconds. I wanted to go for a ride so bad I could not stand it! Seat is getting new foam and cover, won't be done till next week... Thought about sitting on a pillow.

I understand that. I just bought mine in December. It had been setting since 06. I've been resurrecting her since. I only gave 200 for her when I bought it. I posted pics on here of her of when I got her home before I did much to her.

Good job, thorough list. I don't think you'll have too many surprises in store. (The bike will come up with something, trust me.)

Thanks Fitz. I just went by the suggestions of you and the great members of this site. I'm sure I'll have some other issues down the road and I know I'll be able to handle it.

40 here in SW Michigan, took Franky out for a quick five mile run, just to get the feeling of it again. Couldn't stop smiling. Kinda hard to drive it through the snow in my folks drive, but once out on dry pavement. He ran smooth. Didn't go far because I haven't done my maintenance yet. That starts next week when I get all the parts in.

It was 65 here yesterday and 75 today so I got some more riding in and got it inspected. Don't want to push my luck cause I don't have it licensed yet got everything else covered insurance inspection and all other bases. Gonna get the license Thursday so I'll be doing some longer more time consuming rides. I've put another 30 miles on it over the last two days and she is still running and handling great!

I am going up north of the mason Dixie next week anyway to go to cycle60 salvage in neosho. I was about to see if you wanted to go for a ride with another xj till I maped you. Are you in St. Joseph north of KC? Cause I won't go near that traffic on a bike for anything.

That would have been cool rmcrow but yes I'm about 45 min North of kc. I don't blame you I won't ride in that kind of traffic either. I usually go with a group down to noel mo on a float trip memorial day weekend and thought about riding this year but I'm like you not worth the risk of the kc traffic and way too far to go out and around. Maybe we can figure something out sometime and do some riding it would be cool just to see another xj on the roads Lol

The days have been warm enough for awhile here. But the nights have been cold enough to refreeze the roads. Hopefully we are just about doing with that.

I'm not sure where bbbq is but my bikes completely original and I like it that way Lol. Noel is something like 6 miles north of the ark/mo border on the elk river. We always have a great time when we go.

It's was like 8 above zero here about a week and a half ago. It's alot better now upper fifties low sixties for the most part over the next ten days. Gonna be nice considering it was below freezing here for over a month straight and then it would only warm up for a day and right back to cold. Love that pic looks very comforting and relaxing.

Bbbq is bikes blues and barbeque, its a rally held in Fayetteville Arkansas, year before last I was living in Fayetteville and working nights and didn't get any sleep for more than a week because of it. I am right by the pig trail and some really nice back roads to ride, and a couple of Rivers and parks all nice and close. I s a great area for nice relaxed cruises and if some one feels like excitement there are lost of places to practice their cornering skills. Personally I like the relaxing cruise, or as relaxed as I can get on my stock seat. :)

I have a couple pictures of bits and pieces and wiring and such from when I first to're it apart to get it roadable. I haven't taken any of the whole thing because I want to get it pretty and get rid of some ugly bar end mirrors. she looks ok from a distance but up close there are some dings and scratches. i plan on doing a full rebuild over the course of the summer and winter. A bit at a time as I plan on using it for my daily driver too.

Mine has several chips in the paint on the tank and a small dent in the front fender. That's gonna be one of my projects for next winter along with a full carb rebuild I think.

first ride today, first clean the helmet. broke the hinge on the visor.
    no problem use the spare.
check air in tires, need air, 30/34, check. adjust mirrors, right mirror broke off.
no problem, still have left side.
bike starts instantly, warm it up a minute, shut it off get jacket, zip in liner, take it apart, shake out stink bugs.
down the road 1/4 mile, river running across road, bikes all wet now.
make a turn, 1/2 mile get behind semi pulling a mobile home, can't pass.
follow it for another mile, i can taste the salt in the dust he kicks up.
then he stops, i have nowhere to go, road construction one lane.
    turn around go home
screw it, i'll just pretend that never happened

Being in Wisconsin, once it hit 40 degrees we are out riding and I'm no exception. Went out today for a quick 10 mile run after an oil change, valve clearance check, and a general once over. We are expecting more snow tonight and highs back down into the 20's so my riding will be on hold for a few more weeks it looks like... Hopefully by the end of April we will be in the 50's and 60's. This winter has been awful here... Coldest in 35 years, we had more days below 0 than above 30... I need to move south haha!
