    Hey gents,

Just picked up an 82 xj650 Seca, never ridden or really even seen these bikes in person before. Gotta say I love it though, riding it is a blast.

However, given that this is a new bike to me...I hear a noise that i'm not familiar with. I have a video below that shows it.

Seems to come from the front top of the engine. What i've done thus far:

    Adjusted valves
Compression is 150~psi per cylinder. cylinder 2 is 120~
No air leaks (did a propane test) from intake
    changed all oils
Dont feel any exhaust leaks from the heads.
Checked tach drive for any wierdness, its fine.

-This happens regardless of the temperature of the bike. Cant hear it riding, mostly because of the gear whine.
    -Rises and falls with RPM

Other than this noise its a great bike, rides great, idles fine.

Sounds like your tach cable needs some lube, maybe replaced. The rest of what I heard is the normal loud valve noise. Ask one of the experts but I didn't hear anything that alarmed me.

I was thinking it was tach related as well. Cleaned up the spider gear but the cable itself? worth a shot
