Yeah, seriously. Leave our wheels for us! Then again, can't blame them for having good taste. And it looks like he's running D404's.

I'm sure that having purpose-made wheels is going to happen. If even one customer was delivered a car with used wheels the company would be finished. People tend to like their brand-new stuff to not have any used parts. I'd bet that the prototype uses more from an XJ than just the wheels.

Maybe Yamaha are testing the tracking module that was fitted to some of thier alloy wheels, we saw in earlier posts?
Just to see who is using their products.

Speaking of tires - they are using Motorcycle tires that will wear to the cords in 5,000 miles (or so) that alone would make for unhappy customers.

Used engines in NEW vehicles?? the 60's and early 70's Toyota Land Cruiser had remanufactured Chevy straight 6's (don't know the years).

To hell with that, a $50k car with cheap-ass (although cool) XJ wheels?

Let's see... 3-D printed car built on 30+ MC wheels vs. brand new Shelby Mustang for about the same price... hmm....

Having worked on several original FJ's I am positive that is not an accurate statement (for starters Chevy's I-6 isn't an OHC engine, but the F-Type engine is). I do know that Chevy swaps were faiirly common though.

Proof-of-concept vehicles always cost more than production vehicles. It's the process of making the thing that is interesting, more than the vehicle itself.

that's your tax dollars at work.
as soon as his government grant runs out, he will too.
2500 hours to print a car body, that's either a miss print or stupid

Hadn't thought of that. Printing in metal is something that has been done.

Hey K-Moe I know they can 3-D print out all the parts to make a high powered riffle so I just figured maybe they can make them rims too
technical advances the more they make the more I fear them!

I'm not exactly sure that 3-D printing has advanced to the stage of building a vessel that can contain 60,000+PSI yet (even the metal 3-D printers).

I much prefer a chunk of billet or a raw forging for that job.
