I rebuilt my carbs and am trying to wet set my float levels, I am not able to get fuel into #1 or #4. My question is, do they sometimes airlock? When I took the bowl off it acted like it was under a little pressure but it did not have any fuel in it. It got dark before i could spend a lot of time on it but if you guys have any suggestions please let me know.

I will try letting gas flow to them longer, maybe just did not give it enough time. Will work on it tomorrow.

it don't take long to fill up, you have some stuck floats.
if that's the first time you had gas in them, they might be stuck from being upside down during the rebuild.
open the drain and give them a smack with a screwdriver handle, they might work themselves loose. by the time your done with the wet set you'll know if you have a problem

Should take five or ten seconds. Concur on the stuck floats.

Interesting thing to consider trying (although it could get messy) would be to put the carb rack on a stand, hook up a fuel supply, take a bowl off one of the affected carbs and start the fuel flowing. See what happens.

Here is a tool I made to help with bench setting the floats and checking for float leaks:

Did you pull the Float Valve Seats?

There are "Beenie-screens" to be cleaned on them.

The float seats are new, and yes i did pull them to check them. After the initial problem getting gas they did not mess up after that.

    Good Job, Kenny!

Just finished with Rosie's carb rebuild, float measure, wet set, sync and air mix adjustment.

Rosie is running fine!! She always amazes me how much fun she is to ride!

And I have an '06 FJR, and that machine is a total blast!!

I am still impressed, with this 32 year-old XJ!
