well i bought some feeler gauges and i got it as close to as i can but honestly i dont think that would be very accurate its hard to get all 4 to "feel" the same and vaccum style would be way more precise havent started the bike to see a difference but will find out.

"Feeler Gauges" don't work for this.

The space to be measured it the Outside Diameter of the Butterfly and the Inside Diameter of the Carb Body.

The "Tool" needs to be ROUND.

Use the RED TUBE from WD-40 or Carb Cleaner.
The FEELER has to have CIRCUMFERENCE.

The circumference of the small "Tool" will be able to glide along the circular inside surface of the carb intake port and fit between the two opposing circular shapes and render an accurate measurement.

You can use the Feeler Gauges to measure your Valve Shim Clearances when you get ready to try that.

It is a valid starting point for any carb setup especially if the rack has been broken apart. It is also easier to get away with on a 2 cylinder engine.

For 4 cylinder bikes it presents a problem. Due to the higher retained heat in the inner two banks the jetting is often different.

If the jetting, passages, throttle plates and seals are all equal a static set will work fine. Then the idle mixture can be set in-situ.

Otherwise the sync and set will need to be done on the bike.

Would Seafoam be an acceptable substitute for MMO? I only ask because I know my dad has some of that, and I'd have to actually buy(heaven forbid) MMO.

A long reach grabber tool like this works wonders for pulling the material thru the YICS tube. Useful and found in cheaper stores everywhere
