    Could someone please direct me to the page that has brush dimensions etc. for '81 XJ550 Seca.

    If they are <10mm in length they need to be replaced.

    There is a rebuild thread in my signature for the 650R starter. Your's may be slightly different but the steps are basically the same.

    Yep, I've read your excellent rebuild thread and will be following it to the word! I can get the brushes/rebuild kit here in the UK but the supplier needs the overall dimensions of the brushes needed. I can't find them in any of handbooks/manuals and remembered reading something from Fitz about checking correct brush sizes before ordering?
