On the inside on my collector on my aftermarket 4-1 exhaust is rusty, i tried to patch the hole, but it blows thru somewhere else, just old and rusty. also I'm still green when it comes to creative welding.

Anyone have advise? i was thinking if i could patch the hole and just fill the middle space in the collector with metal or some meterial and make it solid, but have no clue how to do that. i dont think a welder is the tool for that much filler. also, i have a metal them going, so id like to stay away from wraps if i can.

    Thanks

Get some pictures up, it's hard to figure out what needs repairing if we can't see it.

Pull it off, and take to a muffler shop. They will have to remove any chrome, but then can weld up the holes. Now, you will have exposed metal that will rust right away, so you gotta get it rust free and get it covered.

Like rattle can with an engine paint that has ceramic in it, or maybe even an exhaust paint, with ceramic. Benefit to this is, you keep the collector hotter, in the inside and that improves scavenging (sp?).

But, yes, post up some pics!

You can patch almost anything with welds, you just need the rights settings. If a large area is rusted, it may make more sense to cut all the crap out and weld in a replacement.

That or just replace an entire section of tubing.

I had a friend fill it completely in with his welder. If it can blow out past this heavy duty patch, ill just be buying a new exhaust system.

    Thanks guys
