Hi, another newbie here. At least that's what my son says to call myself. New to XJs and forums!

I've recently bought an XJ750 '82 model (off ebay) and have been trolling the net for info. and lurking around this site. This has been the best, friendliest and most comprehensive site for XJers that i've found.

As far as I can see my bike is standard and has been well maintained and will probably not be ridden for a while until the Tasmanian winter turns a bit warmer. No matter, as a returning biker after almost 30 years away it'll probably take me a while to work up the guts to get out there!

Just letting you know that there's another convert out there and I'm looking forward to reading and participating.

    Cheers

Welcome from across the ditch Sabco :)

Have you found yourself a copy of the XJCD's yet?

You must be a mind reader! Just bought up the site a couple of minutes ago (it says there that you can't read minds) Sounds well worth the money. I live in the scrub and it's a little difficult (and expensive) getting a bank draft. I have a funny feeling you may know if Dave accepts paypal or credit card! Thanks Alive.

    Hi sabco,

Welcome to XJBikes, hope you enjoy your stay :)

It's a bit cold here too, does not stop me riding though, esp. since my Commodore VH is off the road due to a faulty power steering rack.

Oh and after a hour or so of riding it will seem like you have never been away :)

XJCD is well worth the money. Dave will get the CD to you quick, I live 20 minutes away so had mine really quick!

Thanks for the warm welcome Kiwi,

I've pm'd Alive for the details and am getting keen to have the Cd in my hand. Sounds like the ideal combination, computers and bikes!

Had a VC commodore myself, virtually bomb proof. It drove for nearly 50000ks with a blown head gasket and didn't miss a beat.

Welcome Sabco, you made an excellent selection for a motorcycle. Very temperate bikes these are. Enjoy the gang, seems your getting along famously straight away!

Congratulations Alive and Kiwi, you may have changed my views on people from the land of the long white cloud!
Joking of course, it's genetically programmed for Aussies to have a go at Kiwis!
Thanks for the help and hope to see you around the site.

Welcome Sabco...I was away from bikes for a long spell too and now it's like I have never left. I'm older now and have to pick up some knowledge about bikes but the things that I learned about mechanics, in my spell away, will help me catch up quickly with bikes in general and specifically my XJ. This site is the place to be for XJ's and everyone has been genuine, honest, helpful and a gentleman/lady to me. See you around!

And there's me thinking it's only Poms you blokes have a dig at. I had a lay of riding for a while and it is a bit scary getting back on a bike first time but it soon comes back to you.
    Welcome, you'll like it here.

There's no need to have a dig at with the Poms anymore. 5-0 Need I say more Mick!

I've already found the site extremely helpful and informative. Not to mention friendly. I'm beginning to see why my 13year old son hangs around forums, it's addictive. Still have to work out emoticons though.

Scrape is so right in what he says. Everyone wants to help everyone else, my kind of place. It's a great community that's been developed here and with my lack of knowledge I'll be more of a reader than a contributor, at least at first.

    Cheers
    Tim

    Sabco.

I'm only half pom, and you forget the poor buggers have Tony Bliar on their team.

So Sabco have you started running bets on the jacket from Sydney vs the CD's from NZ for which will arrive first?

CDs from NZ are hot favourites at this stage. Will be blasting Sydney jackets soo to make a race of it!

I read the other day of a punter who put $100000.00 on Australia to beat Fiji in the last rugby match. He won a grand. These may have to be the odds I will offer.
    You're on the smart money!
