I am putting my carbs back together, I thought I read somewhere that I should put some sort of sealer around the perimeter of the top of the carb to seal the diaphragm. This doesn't seem right but I will ask anyway.

    Thanks

I've used a very thin surface coating of silicone lube. Shouldn't hurt but again I cannot get one of my carbs to work properly.

I have used the silicone where the diaphragm sits in the groove. It keeps the diaphragm in place when you put the tophat on. It will keep the diaphragm from being damaged. I would not use a sealer. If you ever had to get it back out you may damage it.
