This is a stupid question, yes.

Was I supposed to use the stock exhaust flanges?? I managed to snap yet another stud while rushing to put this on today. I need to get a torque wrench. And speaking of which, what is the torque spec on these?

    Haynes manual says 7.2 ft/lbs for 650s and 5.4 ft/lbs for 750s. (page 111).

    Not much at all.

I used only what was in the exhaust box.

    Torque spec is 7.2 ft/lb no matter whether it's a 550, 650 or 750.

Use anti-seize compound, and tighten gradually first one side then the other back and forth incrementally.

Well I got it all done. Wow is that thing LOUD! Not really a fan of the noise. I'll ride it for a few weeks before worrying about it.

I wonder if I have something loose. There is a horribly loud rattle at two different points from 3k to 5.5-6k.

I got the chrome canister. I am wondering if I should have gotten the megaphone instead for sound?

I had a herpde derpde diddily derpty dumb.

My center stand is resting on the canister. Anyone else come across this? I want to keep my center stand, and I can't raise the exhaust any more.

On mine there was a piece that you could use to separate the center stand from the pipe.

The only other pieces I have left are a long bracket/hangar, and a 6" flat piece with a 90* bend at the end. I'll have to look into it when I get the chance on Tuesday.

Yeah that was it. Thanks for mentioning that. LOVE the way the exhaust looks, but is there any way to quiet it down or get a deeper tone out of it? Sounds like a honda with a fart can. A replacement baffle maybe?

I just bent my rear hanger away from the bike, and made sure it wouldn't touch it before I snugged up the exhaust bolts. You have to drill out the rivet to pull the baffle, you have to re rivet back in after you do whatever you do.

BTW I have been doing a decent amount of research on this, and apparently people with other bikes have had the same issue. There is the obvious fiberglass packing, which is recommended to replace every season, and there is a steel wool packing that lasts four times longer, and assists in eliminating some of the higher pitch tones.

I will have to do a before and after video from no packing to the steel wool and post them for future owners.
