Photo would be nice. I fixed a crack in my case with JB Weld, I have had no issues at all.

    Alright.. Will do.

But to be honest -- i tried all kinds of soft treatments.. Even a torch gun..

The problem is - the break is right under the valve cover and pulls air and spits oil.. Need to seal it - once and for all.. Thinking a top-end replacement is the smart thing to do by myself, unless I can find a professional to fix it..

The cause - overtightening valve cover bolts.. Anyway..

I just bought a complete replacement head w/cams for my 700 for $60, why bother fixing the one you have?

It really depends on how long the crack goes on for.

If it's just a tiny little split, I'd say drill out the end of the crack, braze it up, drill, & re-tap the hole.

Worst case scenario, you're out of a couple hours of your time, and all of the $10 it would take to buy a pack of brazing rod.

Get the area really, REALLY clean with carb cleaner,
smear clear silicone into the crack by rubbing it with your finger.
clean off the mess, then lay a neat little bead on the crack.
a couple days later make it disappear with a touch of silver paint (or black)

Drilling the end of the crack is a good idea.

I'm not sure if clear silicone is really going to hold up to heat & pressure. OP said he was feeling stuff sprayed onto his leg.

Drill small hole at end of crack and braze it or use silver solder(it's stronger).

Pull the head, and if you know someone that knows how to braze, they'll be able to take care of you. Aluminum is a pain in the ASS to weld, so that's why I recommended a bronze braze to fix your crack.

Clean it up, flux it super well, heat thoroughly, and let the braze rod flow on down. ;)
