The carburetor on my 1980 XJ650 Maxim has various and sundry carbon steel linkages and brackets that are rusty. Also the diaphragm covers are all pitted with rust. Years ago I just sand blasted these steel parts and spray painted them with automotive paint. Unfortunately the paint has not held up so well and the rust is peeking through once again. I thought about maybe plating these with electroless nickel but am still undecided about that. I will be glad to hear any suggestions from others who have been down this road.
Thank you in advance for your two cents.

    Screws, just do stainless.
Parts and carb bodies, look into "gunkote" I'am preping a rack now.
I tried Caswell's brush n plate with iffy results.
    Short phone answers :)

Hi Polock. I already replaced all the original screws with stainless steel socket head cap screws. I found every size and length I need on Fastenal's website. I looked at what Caswell has to offer and they have a lot of kits. I'll look into the Gunkote. Have you used it? If so, how does it hold up?

GunKote is a baked-on epoxy that is meant for use on firearms. It is more than durable enough for your application.

i've used it on a few guns, a rack of carbs, master cylinders, engine covers.
put it on right and no stripper or chemical takes it off.
the Caswell plug n plate kits i used were nickel plate, they worked good to hide a scratch on chrome and keep it from rusting again but the biggest thing i had any luck with was the bolt in the center of the triple tree.
